The upcoming Data2Move event addresses the charter Customer Sensing and Responding. So far, the topics we have discussed during our previous events have dealt with operational data related to products and transport. At this event you will learn how to incorporate customer data. There are many ways you can use this data to improve your supply chain: from forecasting demand, analyzing the customer journey, to incorporating customer data in the optimization of logistics.
In addition, we have time reserved to give you the opportunity to work together with some of our most excellent students. These students are currently working on their Data2Move research projects and they can use your expert opinion and domain knowledge. At the time of the event they will be halfway through their research journey. So the timing of a brainstorm session with you – influential and skilled partners representing various stages of the supply chain – could not be better.

Keynote by dr. Virginie Lurkin: Moving Consumer Goods, Not Vehicles
Traditionally, the public transport and logistics sectors mainly focus on operational issues, whereas the behavior of the consumer is only implicitly addressed in the planning process. However, concepts such as eCommerce and the Internet of Things gained momentum in recent years, creating new opportunities and challenges for building new ecosystems. The business models within these new ecosystems will have to be well suited to enhance the willingness of the customer by enabling them easy access to products, services and experiences anytime and on-demand. In this keynote I will address how customer preferences can be retrieved from data and how transportation and logistics companies can benefit from including these preferences in solving or dealing with their traditional optimization problems.
Short bio: Virginie Lurkin is Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Operations, Planning, Accounting and Control group. Her main research interests focus on the interface between choice modelling and optimization and her work is applied within the transportation industry.
